Coen van der Maarel is a seasoned international executive and board member with over 35 years of leadership experience in the global logistics and supply chain industry. Based in Switzerland, he has held senior roles with global market leaders including Kuehne + Nagel, CEVA Logistics, DHL Supply Chain, and Danzas Group, driving large-scale transformations, growth strategies, and high-performing teams across Europe, Asia, and emerging markets.
As Global Head of Sales at Kuehne + Nagel, Coen led a major global sales transformation across all business units, enhancing customer proximity, agility, and commercial performance. Earlier, as Managing Director for India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives, he strengthened Kuehne + Nagel’s market position in South Asia, following a successful tenure as SVP Global Customer Development in Contract Logistics.
His earlier executive positions include Executive Vice President for Central & Eastern Europe at CEVA Logistics, Chief Business Development Officer on the CEVA Executive Board, and Managing Director roles at DHL Supply Chain and Christian Salvesen. Throughout his career, Coen has built a strong track record in business turnaround, growth acceleration, and governance — both as an executive and as a supervisory board member.
Educated at Nyenrode Business University (BBA), Coen has completed executive programs at Kellogg (Chicago), IMD (Lausanne), and Cranfield School of Management (UK). A Dutch national fluent in English, German, and Dutch, he combines strategic acumen with a coaching leadership style and high cultural sensitivity.
